Model United Nations: Hearts & Minds for Ecosystem Restoration
The 4th of November has seen the beginning of a new chapter in the journey of the Excellencia Group of Colleges with a very prestigious EMUN ’23 opening ceremony. It has been a much talked about and awaited event in the city with close to 450 delegates taking part in the EMUN 23-24 hosted by Excellencia Infinitum school, Shamirpet.
Excellencia strongly believes that students should be groomed to be responsible leaders from a young age and take accountability for the environment and the planet. It was a glittering beginning to a slew of discussions and debates on a host of global issues. Rightly themed with Ecosystem Restoration as the main motto, the event is powered by the young and enthusiastic team of The Indian Conclave this is one of a kind event conducted among the Junior college segment.
The school Director a visionary himself, Mr. Venkat Muriki ‘s passion for making a change reflects in each of the committee’s agendas. The event was officially declared open by the Secretary-General Master Atharv Feroze of Grade 11 CBSE.
Mr Mahesh, Regional Director, South Asia at Cambridge Assessment International Education graced the opening ceremony along with Ms. Molly Sharma a youth engagement assistant at the youth social entrepreneurship and innovation at UNDP. Apart from the dignitaries, the occasion was attended by the Principals, COO, Centre Heads and UNHRC, UNDP, UNEA, FAO, UNCSW, Lok Sabha, TLA, IP, Indian War cabinet, and G-20 are the 10 committees that are floated in E MUN. These have been chaired by experienced and passionate munners from all over the country adding their expertise to steer the debate towards meaningful resolutions.
The management proudly shared that this EMUN has an official validation from the UNHRC for supporting and spreading the message of helping refugees throughout the world and their collaboration with the UN Decade on Ecosystem restoration.
The second day of MUN saw more intense discussions and interactive sessions among the delegates. After the regs delegates proceeded to be a part of Movers session where they connected with some experts across countries like Brunei and Pakistani to discuss on ecological conservation. This was followed by sessions in the committee rooms.
The two day conference ended with a closing ceremony. The best delegates were given awards along with cash prizes. The event culminated with a band performance by Band Buddy where delegates grooved to some foot-tapping music. The management pledged to continue the mission of ecosystem restoration and make it integral to everyday learning. The entire event was conceptualized and planned by Ms. Swathi Saxena, Lead Learning & and Development under the able guidance of our beloved director Mr. Venkat Muriki.
